Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon: Choose What I Should Read!

Hello everyone! I was browsing Aimal’s amazing blog when I came across this read-a-thon that interested me. It is hosted by Ely @ Tea & Titles, and Val @ The Innocent Smiley and the purpose is to read as many books as you can within the given timespan–except the books are chosen by YOU! Here are the instructions, if you’re interested too:

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers/bookstagrammers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the readathon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

The read-a-thon starts August 6th at 12 A.M. depending on your time zone and ends a week later, on the 13th. Because I don’t think I can read more than 2 books, I’m adding 5 books to this poll that you all can choose from.

*Unfortunately, polls are not working on my blog right now, so please comment down below which book you want!*

  • Salt To the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
  • Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
  • City of Saints and Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson
  • Kids of Appetite by David Arnold
  • Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven

I hope this read-a-thon will be a success–please vote! Let me know if you’ll be participating as well!

#ReadThemAllThon TBR Pile

Hey guys! I’ve been having some blogging slump syndromes: I’m not really sure what to blog, etc., and lately…no one’s been commenting or anything on my blog. Everyone’s so inactive, and its been making me really sad because this started happening with my Instagram and then caused me to fade away from it. So let’s talk! (Seriously!)

Anyways, I found this read-a-thon #ReadThemAllThon and its, like, perfect for me. Shameless fact: I actually have never played Pokemon Go, and I probably won’t just because it doesn’t interest me. However, I have been trying to motivate myself to read more these past few days and this read-a-thon is in the PERFECT timing! Three weeks, eight books, and right during my summer vacation. Plus, I probably won’t be able to read this much because school starts right after! So I decided, why not?

If you want to learn more about it, you can go here 🙂 I highly recommend you check it out because I’m not even a Pokemon Go lover and I’m still doing it! (All graphics belong to Read At Midnight) Also, just wanted to point out that I’m not playing with the points. 🙂

*This read-a-thon is from Sunday 14th August to Sunday 4th September.*

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes: Pretty self explanatory, haha. Its the first book in a series and its about time I start reading it. And its also going to be the first book I’ve read in months that I checked out from the library!

For this one, I’m reading Thicker Than Water by Kelly Fiore. I actually met Kelly and got my copy signed back in March, but I was never able to read it and I’ve heard it was really sad and gritty.

I know this isn’t out yet…but A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir. Even now I can tell how excited everyone (including me) is excited for it! It comes out August 30th and I hope to buy and read it then, so it’ll probably be one of my last books. 🙂

I’ve heard that both the characters and the story of Nimona by Noelle Stevenson is diverse, and I’m super curious as to how I’m going to like it because I usually don’t read graphic novels. Also, I might be able to meet the author so it’ll be great if I read it by then. Plus, it’ll be easy to read as well!

It actually took me a while to come up with this book, but I’ve finally decided on Compulsion by Martina Boone. I just realized that I don’t really read that much “romance” especially not strictly romance but I know romance plays a big part on this book so yea 🙂 I might also read These Broken Stars but I’m not sure…depends on my mood, really.

For this I choose Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White. Last month I read Kiersten’s new book, And I Darken, so now I MUST read all her other books, haha.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab–pretty obvious, eh? Also, I NEED TO GET MY HANDS ON A COPY OF THIS BOOK ARRRGH.

Finally, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. I realized that I don’t really like post-apocalyptic/dystopian books anymore, however my sister bought me a copy of this book and its the only one left that I really want to read. I *may* also read These Broken Stars, but yea.

And that’s my TBR for this read-a-thon! I might switch some of the books up accordingly, and I may also double up on some challenges. (E.g: read This Savage Song as the book for thunderous hype as well, or something like that.)

Are you guys joining this read-a-thon? Do you like all the books I’ve chosen? Please let me know!

Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon // Hour 5 Update & Mini-Challenge

Hey guys! So…I know I didn’t specifically say I would participate in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon today, but I learned about it only today and decided I would. If you didn’t know, for one entire day, you read. But the thing is, everyone across the entire world starts at the same time. (Here in Virginia, it starts from 8:00 AM today to 8:00 AM Saturday). Of course, I can’t stay up or read all the time because I have homework to do, but I just hope to read more than usual (maybe finish The Rose Society?) and participate in some of the mini-challenges.

You can learn more about it here! And here is my wrap-up for the Read-A-Thon I participated in back in April!

So since I only started reading during the end of Hour 4 and the beginning of Hour 5, I only read 52 pages of The Rose Society so far. I had already started it, so I am now on page 172, but that’s still good, eh? BUT I LOVE IT SO ITS OKAY. My goal is to get to half of TRS by the end of this read-a-thon. I know it may be less, but I’m not going to be participating all 24 hours, and it’s a lot for me as I’ve been very busy lately.

As for the Mini-Challenge, this is the Ugly Cover Pitch! Basically, you choose a good book with an ugly cover. For this, I’m choosing the entire Lux series’ covers by Jennifer L. Armentrout. (The old and new ones, but let’s go with the new ones for this challenge)

I mean, what EVEN ARE THOSE? These books have romance, yes, but they are YA books! They’re not erotica! BUT, even if you think these covers are ugly af, you should still read the books. They are fun, fast-paced, and full with sarcastic characters. Perfect for a reading slump. ❤ So please do pick them up! Plus the new covers are a bit better, at least they don’t look like erotica novels. (Those are ugly, too, in my opinion)

Anyways, this is my update for this hour! Now back to doing my homework and reading!
